How to choose the right jewellery according to your neckline: Tips from a Personal Stylist

Updated: Jan 10

The combination of jewellery and necklines can significantly impact the overall look and style of an outfit. The right jewellery can accentuate and compliment different necklines, adding an extra touch of elegance and style to any outfit.

How to choose the right jewellery according to your neckline: Tips from a Personal Stylist

The ideal jewellery-neckline match may enhance your entire appearance, from statement earrings that go with an off-the-shoulder neckline to pendant necklaces that follow the contours of a V-neck; matching the proper jewellery with different necklines may improve your ensemble and create a unified aesthetic. Here are some jewellery combination ideas for various necklines this festive season:

1. Strapless or Sweatheart: Strapless necklines leave the neck, collarbone, and upper chest open for a wide variety of necklace options. Jewellery options include choker and collar necklaces or delicate princess necklaces. If you prefer the look of a clean neckline, accessorise with statement earrings, like long teardrop styles.

2. Asymmetrical: Keep jewellery for asymmetrical necklines simple, as the one-shoulder look is dramatic enough on its own. Necklaces can look out of place or get caught in the asymmetrical neckline, so, instead, accessorise the striking angle with statement earrings like Chand Ballis, Jhumkas, or even a maang tikka.

3. Halter: The halter neck typically doesn’t accommodate necklaces, but it really depends on the cut. If the halter has a deep enough neckline, then a pendant necklace can add just the right touch. However, our suggestion would be, bold studs or big, statement earrings to draw the eye towards the neck.

4. V-neck: Choose a Raani Haar or Waterfall necklace with a V-shaped neckline as they emphasize the look’s sleek, long lines. Dramatic statement earrings and lariat necklace styles provide the elegant elongating features that best suit the plunging neckline.

To complement the open area, the neckpiece should be positioned slightly above or within the V.

Earrings: To avoid overpowering the neckline, choose earrings that are understated and delicate, such as studs or tiny hoops.

5. Off-Shoulder: Choose bold necklaces or chokers that highlight your collarbone and neckline. Layering with tiny chains can also result in a fashionable appearance.

Earrings: Choose dramatic statement earrings to enhance the drama of the off-the-shoulder look. Large hoops or long, hanging earrings are both great options.

Keep in mind that these are only basic recommendations and that personal choice and style play a big part in selecting jewellery. When adding jewellery to your clothing, experiment, have fun, and let your originality shine!
